MEET KERRI-ANN

Kerri-Ann Nesbeth has lived in the City of Miramar for over 25 years. As the child of Jamaican immigrants, Kerri-Ann’s parents instilled in her the importance of hard work and determination. For the past two decades, Kerri-Ann has continually worked to serve her community in various ways. She has tutored youth in her neighborhood, served as Vice-Chair of the City of Miramar’s Education Advisory Board, President of her homeowner’s association, and Chair of Broward County's Racial Equity Task Force Education Committee. She is passionate about leading with transparency, helping others, and having a measurable impact on her community.

Kerri-Ann attended Florida Atlantic University, majoring in Public Management and minoring in Political Science and African-American Studies. While attending FAU, she was elected by peers into the Student Government House of Representatives and championed new legislation to increase campus safety, diversity, and inclusion efforts. This experience enabled her to witness firsthand the impact that being vocal and developing partnerships with others can have on effecting real change.

Kerri-Ann started her career in municipal government at the City of Hollywood, FL, and North Springs Improvement District in Coral Springs, FL. She has experience in the nonprofit sector based on her work with the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County and the private sector with Kraft Foods. She has worked with the Clinton Foundation in New York City, overseeing the operations of President Bill Clinton’s annual conference that focused on bolstering the U.S. economy through job creation.

Kerri-Ann is a highly intelligent, well-spoken, and goal-driven leader.

Throughout her experience, Kerri-Ann recognized that access to quality education was one of the common denominators to unlocking opportunity. This realization facilitated her desire to have a more direct impact on education reform. She began by volunteering to tutor youth in her neighborhood in science, technology, and math (STEM) curriculum. While tutoring, she witnessed a lack of diversity among educators in the classroom, which directly affects the ability of minority students to achieve their full potential. To impact this work, she began working at Achievement First Public Charter Schools, where she played a crucial role in increasing the diversity of new teacher and school leader hires across more than 30 schools in the district.

Kerri-Ann is Managing Partner of EdFuel, a national nonprofit that supports school districts, colleges, universities, and education organizations by building the capacity of their leaders to recruit high-quality and diverse teachers and staff effectively. She has helped hundreds of education leaders throughout the country better develop and retain their staff through her work.
